Gathering at Re:store: Exploring the Civic Innovation Hub in Satsumasendai

On the Tour's first day, participants got an overview of Bambooful's Sustainable Tourism Program, including fieldwork, factory visits, lectures, and hands-on prototyping. The group explored Re:store, delving into innovative initiatives that showcase bamboo's potential and broader creative and eco-conscious endeavors.

The day concluded with a shared dinner, not just as a meal but as an opportunity for participants to forge connections, break the ice, and create a supportive community for the collaborative endeavors that lay ahead.

DAY 2

Unveiling Sustainable Practices and Community Engagement in Fujimoto

On the second day of the Tour, participants delved deeper into the heart of Bambooful’s immersive experience. The day commenced with an exploration of Hinomaru Chikkō, a distinguished bamboo processing factory that stands as one of the last of its kind in the region. Here, the group witnessed the delicate dance of craftsmanship as the factory caters to both mass production and customized bamboo materials for skilled artists and craftsmen.

The journey continued into the lush embrace of a bamboo forest. Here, participants actively engaged in sustainable forest management, taking part in the careful cutting of mature bamboo. This proactive measure not only aids in maintaining the delicate balance of the local ecosystem but also serves as a sustainable resource for their upcoming design projects. DAY 4

As the sun dips below the horizon on Day 4, participants are treated to a delightful break from their intense prototyping sessions. Creative Showcasing: Bamboo Prototypes and Cultural Exchange in Fujimoto

On the final day of Bambooful’s Sustainable Tourism Monitor Tour, participants bring their creative journey to fruition by completing the on-site prototyping of bamboo designs intended for Fujimoto's communal spaces. The serene surroundings of Fujimoto provide an inspiring backdrop as participants unveil their innovative creations, a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

The concluding day evolves into a vibrant community celebration as participants showcase their bamboo prototypes to the local community. Fujimoto comes alive with a shared appreciation for the sustainable design that has emerged from the week-long creative journey.
